The two founders of Under Northern Skies pose together in various Icelandic landscapes—standing on a glacier, jumping beneath a bridge over black sand, gearing up for ice hiking, and embracing the vastness of a frozen lake—all dressed in cold-weather gear and showcasing their Arctic adventures.

Hey! We’re so happy you’re here!

We’re Alice and Andrew, the couple behind Under Northern Skies.

Our Story

Our journey began like many others: a desire to see the world. But somewhere, amidst the overcrowded cities and sweltering heat, we found ourselves drawn to a different kind of beauty – the raw, untouched landscapes of Iceland and Norway.

There was something about empty open roads, mountain views, hidden waterfalls, ancient forests, glaciers, and hiking trails that captured our hearts. It was here that we felt most alive and most at peace, all at the same time. And so, we decided to share our passion with the world and Under Northern Skies was born.

Scenic Nordic landscapes featuring: a group standing atop Norway’s iconic Preikestolen cliff overlooking a vast fjord; a dramatic view behind a cascading waterfall with sunlight peeking through; a winding road cutting through Iceland’s snowy mountains; and a partially frozen river running through a rugged valley.

One of the Under Northern Skies founders poses across striking Icelandic locations—sitting on a large ice chunk at Diamond Beach, celebrating atop the rust-coloured rim of Kerið crater, and standing arms-wide facing a tall waterfall cascading into a frozen basin. She wears bright, cold-weather gear, capturing the adventure and beauty of winter in Iceland.

Hey, I’m Alice!

Role: The Planner and the writer

I would describe myself as someone who’s good at planning things but not great at executing those plans. I love writing lists and itineraries but I’m completely useless when it comes to directions.

I used to be a big-city girl, but these days, I prefer getting lost in the mountains to a crowded city. I’m a storyteller and the writer for Under Northern Skies and my own travel blog, Adventures of Alice

I’m a huge Harry Potter nerd, a cat lover, and you can always bribe me with doughnuts. I am very OCD about certain things (I always have a coffee at 11am sharp), but weirdly relaxed about others (I consider arriving at the airport gate on the dot a success).

And, I’m not a morning person. Despite my love for photography, I will never be one of those girls getting up at 4am for the perfect shot – instead, I’ll be chasing sunsets, the stars, and the northern lights.

One of the Under Northern Skies founders is featured across Icelandic and rural backdrops—looking out over green countryside, giving two thumbs up on a frozen lake beneath rocky cliffs, and standing on rugged terrain near a bridge under a clear blue sky. He’s dressed in layered winter gear, embodying the spirit of cold-climate exploration.

Hey, I’m Andrew!

Role: The Navigator and the Designer

Firstly, I’m the opposite of Alice when it comes to directions. I can remember how to get somewhere like the back of my hand. But don’t ask me to remember any dates because I most likely won’t!

I’d say that I’m a man of extremes. I love hardcore music (rock or EDM), and when it comes to food, the spicier the better. I can handle any rollercoaster and I love a challenge. A difficult hike with a hard scramble is much better than a leisurely stroll.

I hate cooking, but I am weirdly passionate about cooking Italian food; I love eating (especially Italian food), but pineapple does NOT belong on pizza! When I was little, I wanted to be an archaeologist and, I’ve had a passion for history since then.

My downtime is mostly taken up by video games or design. I love experimenting with the latest tech or learning how to program something new.
